Overview

DNB-001 is a first-in-class oral small molecule therapy with a dual mechanism of action, initially developed for the treatment of glaucoma. It acts as an agonist at sulfonylurea receptors (SUR), functioning as an ion channel modulator. In preclinical animal models, DNB-001 demonstrated potent intraocular pressure (IOP)-lowering effects and neuroprotective effects on the optic nerve. Clinical trials have shown dose-dependent reductions in IOP without observed ocular side effects. The drug was originally developed by Danube Technologies and later associated with Danube Pharmaceuticals, but its development has been discontinued after reaching Phase 2 clinical trials for glaucoma and related indications[1][2][3][4][5][7].
