DNDI-0690

DNDI-0690 is a nitroimidazole derivative developed for the treatment of leishmaniasis. It shows potent activity against both visceral leishmaniasis (VL) and cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL). The compound was identified from a library of nitroimidazole compounds accessed through an agreement with the TB Alliance. DNDI-0690 rapidly distributes to infected dermal tissue when administered orally, with nearly complete distribution of protein-unbound drug from plasma to infected dermis. In mouse models, it demonstrated significant efficacy in reducing parasite loads of both Leishmania mexicana and Leishmania major.
