Overview

docetaxel + vinorelbine + filgrastim is a combination chemotherapy and supportive care regimen evaluated for the treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The regimen includes docetaxel, a semi-synthetic taxane that stabilizes microtubules to prevent cell division, and vinorelbine, a vinca alkaloid that inhibits microtubule polymerization. To mitigate the hematological toxicity associated with this dose-dense chemotherapy, filgrastim (a recombinant granulocyte colony-stimulating factor) is administered to stimulate neutrophil production and reduce the risk of febrile neutropenia. This specific combination was studied in a Phase II trial sponsored by Amgen, which provided the filgrastim (Neupogen) component.
