COF003 is an albumin-bound nanoparticle formulation of docetaxel, a taxane-based cytotoxic chemotherapy agent. Developed by Lee's Pharmaceutical (ZKGZ Biotech), this formulation utilizes nanoparticle albumin-bound (nab) technology to enhance the delivery of docetaxel to tumor tissues. By using albumin as a carrier, the formulation avoids the need for toxic solvents like polysorbate 80, which are typically required for docetaxel's solubility and are associated with severe hypersensitivity reactions. Docetaxel exerts its antineoplastic effect by binding to the beta-tubulin subunit of microtubules, promoting their assembly and inhibiting their disassembly. This stabilization of microtubules arrests the cell cycle in the G2/M phase, ultimately leading to apoptotic cell death. COF003 is currently being evaluated in Phase 2/3 clinical trials for the treatment of various solid tumors.
