Docetaxel + carboplatin is a combination chemotherapy regimen used primarily to treat non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and ovarian cancer, among other malignancies. Docetaxel is a taxane antineoplastic agent that works by binding to the β-subunit of tubulin, stabilizing microtubules, and thereby inhibiting cell division. Carboplatin is a platinum-containing alkylating agent that binds to DNA, forming adducts that inhibit DNA replication and transcription, ultimately leading to apoptosis or necrosis of tumor cells. This combination exploits complementary mechanisms—microtubule stabilization by docetaxel and DNA crosslinking by carboplatin—to maximize cytotoxic effects against rapidly dividing cancer cells[1][2][5][6][8].
