Docetaxel + cisplatin is a combination chemotherapy regimen used primarily for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), as well as other cancers such as prostate, head and neck, and gastric cancers. Docetaxel is a taxane antineoplastic agent that binds to microtubules, stabilizing them and preventing their depolymerization, which inhibits mitotic cell division and induces apoptosis in cancer cells[6][8]. Cisplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic that forms DNA crosslinks, leading to DNA damage and apoptosis. The combination exploits complementary mechanisms—docetaxel disrupts microtubule function while cisplatin damages DNA—to enhance cytotoxicity against tumor cells[5][8]. This regimen is approved for first-line therapy in advanced or metastatic NSCLC and has demonstrated efficacy in adjuvant/neoadjuvant settings[1][2][5].
