Overview

A combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of docetaxel and cisplatin, evaluated by the University of Wisconsin, Madison, as an adjuvant treatment for patients with completely resected stage IB-IIIA non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Docetaxel is a taxane that promotes microtubule assembly and inhibits disassembly, leading to cell cycle arrest. Cisplatin is a platinum-based agent that forms inter- and intra-strand DNA cross-links, interfering with DNA replication and transcription. This specific Phase II study aimed to determine if the combination could be administered in a dose-intense manner to improve time to progression and overall survival in the post-surgical setting.
