Overview

Docetaxel + cyclophosphamide is a combination chemotherapy regimen commonly referred to as the "TC protocol." It consists of two cytotoxic agents: - Docetaxel (a taxane), which inhibits microtubule depolymerization, thereby disrupting mitosis and leading to cell death. - Cyclophosphamide (an alkylating agent), which cross-links DNA strands, preventing cell replication and causing apoptosis. This combination is primarily used as adjuvant or neoadjuvant therapy for early-stage HER2-negative breast cancer. It is administered intravenously in cycles (typically every 21 days for four cycles). The regimen has demonstrated efficacy particularly in triple-negative breast cancer subtypes but can be used across various hormone receptor statuses. The main mechanism of action involves targeting rapidly dividing cells by interfering with their ability to replicate DNA or complete mitosis[1][2][3][4].
