docetaxel + filgrastim

Docetaxel + filgrastim is a combination regimen used primarily in oncology, where docetaxel, a taxane-class antineoplastic agent, is combined with filgrastim, a recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF). Docetaxel acts by stabilizing microtubules and inhibiting their depolymerization, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cancer cells. Filgrastim stimulates the production of neutrophils from the bone marrow and is used to reduce the risk of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia. This combination is often employed in regimens for metastatic breast cancer and other solid tumors to maintain dose intensity by mitigating myelosuppression caused by cytotoxic chemotherapy[1][2][6]. The addition of filgrastim allows higher or more frequent dosing of docetaxel by reducing the incidence and severity of neutropenia.
