Overview

The combination of docetaxel, gemcitabine, and carboplatin is a multi-agent chemotherapy regimen primarily used in the treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and has been studied in other solid tumors. Docetaxel is a taxane that stabilizes microtubules, inhibiting cell division. Gemcitabine is a nucleoside analog that inhibits DNA synthesis by incorporating into DNA strands and inhibiting ribonucleotide reductase. Carboplatin is a platinum-based compound that causes DNA crosslinking, leading to apoptosis. Together, these agents act synergistically to disrupt cancer cell proliferation through multiple mechanisms targeting both mitosis and DNA replication[1][4][6][8].
