Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Docetaxel + indoximod is a combination therapy consisting of docetaxel, a taxane chemotherapy agent, and indoximod, an oral immunomodulator that inhibits the indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) pathway. IDO is an enzyme that tumors use to create a state of immunosuppression. Preclinical studies demonstrated that indoximod combined with chemotherapy was synergistic in mouse models of breast cancer. The combination aims to enhance anti-tumor effects through complementary mechanisms of action - docetaxel's cytotoxic effects on cancer cells and indoximod's restoration of immune function against cancer cells.
