Docetaxel + nedaplatin is a combination chemotherapy regimen being investigated for the treatment of locoregionally recurrent non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Docetaxel is a member of the taxane family that exerts its cytotoxic effect by binding to and stabilizing microtubules, thereby inhibiting mitosis and inducing cell cycle arrest. Nedaplatin is a second-generation platinum derivative designed to have lower nephrotoxicity and neurotoxicity compared to cisplatin; it functions by forming inter- and intra-strand DNA cross-links, which impede DNA synthesis and transcription. In the context of a Phase II study led by Sun Yat-sen University, this combination is administered weekly as concurrent chemotherapy alongside hypofractionated thoracic re-irradiation to improve local control and survival in patients with recurrent NSCLC.
