Ox-Tax is a chemotherapy doublet combination consisting of docetaxel (65 mg/m²) and oxaliplatin (100 mg/m²). It was utilized in a Georgetown University pilot study (NCT01888978) titled 'Molecularly Tailored Therapy for Metastatic Pancreatic Cancer,' where treatment was assigned based on tumor molecular profiling. Docetaxel acts as a microtubule inhibitor by binding to tubulin and preventing depolymerization, thereby arresting the cell cycle in the G2/M phase. Oxaliplatin is a third-generation platinum-based antineoplastic agent that forms intra- and inter-strand DNA cross-links, which block DNA synthesis and lead to apoptosis. The combination is administered intravenously on a 3-week cycle.
