Overview

Docetaxel + pertuzumab is a combination regimen used primarily for the treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer, including both early and metastatic disease. Docetaxel is a chemotherapy agent classified as a taxane that inhibits cell division by stabilizing microtubules, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. Pertuzumab is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the extracellular dimerization domain (subdomain II) of the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), preventing its pairing with other HER family receptors and thereby inhibiting downstream signaling pathways involved in cell proliferation and survival. This combination exploits both cytotoxic (docetaxel) and targeted anti-HER2 mechanisms (pertuzumab), often administered together with trastuzumab for enhanced efficacy in HER2-positive cancers[1][3][6].
