Docetaxel Hikma is a generic formulation of the antineoplastic agent docetaxel, a semi-synthetic taxane. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of various malignancies, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), breast cancer, prostate cancer, gastric adenocarcinoma, and head and neck cancer. The mechanism of action involves binding to and stabilizing free tubulin, promoting its assembly into stable microtubules while simultaneously inhibiting their disassembly. This action leads to the inhibition of mitotic spindle function, resulting in cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase and ultimately inducing programmed cell death (apoptosis).
