Docetaxel Lipid Microsphere (DT-LM) is a novel, proprietary intravenous lipid emulsion formulation of the taxane chemotherapy agent docetaxel, developed by Shenyang Pharmaceutical University. Unlike conventional docetaxel formulations (such as Taxotere), DT-LM is an oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion prepared with a lipid phase composed of soybean oil, MCT oil, egg lecithin, and oleic acid, and it is specifically formulated without Tween 80 (polysorbate 80). This design aims to provide sustained release of the active ingredient, reduce irritation and hypersensitivity reactions typically associated with Tween 80, and potentially improve tumor targeting. The mechanism of action involves binding to and stabilizing microtubules, which inhibits cell division and induces apoptosis. DT-LM has been evaluated in Phase I clinical trials for the treatment of advanced solid tumors to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics compared to standard docetaxel formulations.
