Docetaxel plus dendritic cell vaccine is a combination therapy used primarily in oncology clinical trials. Docetaxel is a taxane-class small molecule chemotherapeutic agent that promotes the assembly of microtubules and stabilizes them by preventing depolymerization, thereby inhibiting mitosis and leading to cancer cell death[1][2][5]. Dendritic cell vaccines are a form of personalized immunotherapy where autologous monocytes are harvested from the patient, differentiated into dendritic cells ex vivo, loaded with tumor-associated antigens (often via mRNA transfection), matured to enhance immune activation properties, and then administered back to the patient[3][6]. The goal is to stimulate an antigen-specific T-cell response against tumor cells. This combination has been studied in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) among other cancers; early-phase studies show it can induce immune responses with manageable toxicity profiles[3].
