Overview

Docetaxel-PNP is a polymeric nanoparticle (PNP) formulation of docetaxel, a semi-synthetic analogue of paclitaxel and member of the taxane class. Docetaxel acts as an anti-mitotic chemotherapy agent by promoting the assembly and stabilization of microtubules from tubulin dimers while preventing their depolymerization. This disrupts normal microtubule dynamics essential for cell division, leading to inhibition of mitosis and tumor cell death. The PNP formulation is designed to enhance delivery and potentially improve therapeutic index compared to conventional formulations. Docetaxel is primarily indicated for various cancers including breast cancer, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), prostate cancer (with prednisone), gastric adenocarcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck[1][2][4][6].
