DoCo-Pro-RBD-1 is an experimental recombinant protein vaccine candidate developed for the prevention of COVID-19. It contains a laboratory-made protein that mimics the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, specifically targeting the beta variant. By presenting this RBD antigen to the immune system, DoCo-Pro-RBD-1 stimulates production of neutralizing antibodies and cellular immune responses against SARS-CoV-2. The vaccine is administered with MF59 as an adjuvant to enhance immunogenicity. Its mechanism involves enabling antigen-presenting cells to recognize and present RBD peptides, activating both B cell and T cell responses for robust immunity[1][3][4]. The vaccine has been evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial as a booster dose in adults previously vaccinated with other COVID-19 vaccines[2].
