Overview

Doctil Plus is a combination antibiotic containing cefuroxime, a second-generation cephalosporin, and clavulanic acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor. Developed and manufactured by Maks Drug Limited in Bangladesh, it is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections including respiratory tract infections (pharyngitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and typhoid fever. Cefuroxime works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), while clavulanic acid protects cefuroxime from degradation by beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, thereby extending its spectrum of activity.
