Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dog dander (specifically developed as a dog dander prick solution by Zhejiang Wolwo Bio-Pharmaceutical) is an allergen extract used as an in vivo diagnostic agent for skin prick testing. It is indicated to assist in the diagnosis of type I hypersensitivity diseases related to dog dander sensitization, such as allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and asthma. Upon percutaneous administration, the allergens present in the extract bind to and cross-link IgE antibodies bound to high-affinity IgE receptors (FcεRI) on mast cells in the skin. This interaction triggers mast cell degranulation and the release of vasoactive mediators, resulting in a visible wheal-and-flare reaction in sensitized individuals. The diagnostic solution is currently in Phase III clinical development in China.
