Overview

Dohevanil is a non-pungent N-acyl vanillamide (N-AVAM) analog of capsaicin, the active component of chili peppers. It was developed through structure-activity relationship (SAR) studies to maintain the anti-cancer properties of capsaicin while avoiding the pungent side effects that limit its clinical application. Research presented at AACR 2026 demonstrates that Dohevanil possesses robust growth-suppressive activity against human endometrioid ovarian cancer (EOC) in both in vitro and in vivo models, including chicken chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) and SCID mouse xenografts. It is being investigated as a potential adjunct therapy for EOC, particularly for cases resistant to standard platinum and taxane-based chemotherapies.
