Doil Liniment

Doil Liniment is a topical analgesic formulation developed by Anthus Pharmaceuticals for the management of musculoskeletal pain, including conditions like osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It is a multi-ingredient small molecule product containing diclofenac, capsaicin, menthol, and camphor in a dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) base. Diclofenac serves as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits cyclooxygenase enzymes to reduce pain and inflammation. Capsaicin acts as a counter-irritant and desensitizes nociceptors by depleting substance P. Menthol and camphor provide cooling and warming sensations, respectively, which help distract from pain through sensory stimulation. The DMSO base enhances the skin penetration of the active ingredients, allowing for effective localized treatment of muscle and joint pain.
