Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Doloteffin is a phyto-pharmaceutical (herbal extract) developed and marketed by Ardeypharm GmbH. The active ingredient is a dry extract derived from the secondary storage roots of *Harpagophytum procumbens* (devil's claw), standardized to contain the iridoid glycoside harpagoside as its primary active constituent. It is indicated for the treatment of painful musculoskeletal conditions, including osteoarthritis, lower back pain, and other inflammatory joint disorders. The therapeutic effect is attributed to the anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties of its constituents, which modulate inflammatory mediators such as leukotrienes and cytokines. Doloteffin is administered orally as film-coated tablets and is available in Germany as an approved medicinal product for locomotor and skeletal diseases.
