Avelumab is a monoclonal antibody targeting programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1), functioning as an immune checkpoint inhibitor to promote T-cell mediated anti-tumor activity. The combination aims to improve immunotherapy efficacy in advanced cancers, particularly those resistant or refractory to prior PD-(L)1 blockade, such as Merkel cell carcinoma and microsatellite-stable gastrointestinal cancers[1][2][5][7].
