Overview

Dn-Stat5 adenovirus (Ad-DN-STAT5) is a recombinant adenoviral vector expressing a dominant-negative mutant of Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 5 (STAT5), typically a carboxyl-truncated variant (such as Stat5a-Δ713 or Stat5a-Δ740) that lacks the C-terminal transactivation domain. This construct retains the ability to dimerize and bind DNA but is transcriptionally inactive, thereby acting as a dominant-negative inhibitor of endogenous STAT5a and STAT5b signaling. It is widely used as a research-use-only laboratory tool to investigate the role of STAT5 in cell growth, differentiation, survival, and apoptosis across various models, including breast cancer, prostate cancer, and neuronal systems.
