Domoprednate is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid developed in the late 1970s and 1980s for topical use. It acts as an anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic agent by modulating gene expression through the glucocorticoid receptor, leading to reduced production of inflammatory mediators. Domoprednate is considered a medium-active corticosteroid and has been used topically to treat skin disorders such as eczema, psoriasis, and atopic dermatitis. Clinical studies indicate its efficacy is comparable to hydrocortisone butyrate for these indications[1][2][5]. It is nonhalogenated and generally well tolerated.
