Overview
Coolem-DSR is an oral, fixed-dose combination capsule containing the proton pump inhibitor rabeprazole (20 mg) and the dopamine antagonist domperidone (30 mg, sustained-release). Developed and marketed by Ultrachem Pharmaceuticals, it is indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), acid reflux, peptic ulcer disease, and dyspepsia. Rabeprazole works by covalently inhibiting the gastric H+/K+-ATPase pump in parietal cells, thereby reducing gastric acid secretion. Domperidone acts as a peripheral dopamine D2 and D3 receptor antagonist, enhancing gastrointestinal motility and preventing nausea and vomiting by acting on the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ).
