Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Conrin is an oral fixed-dose combination tablet developed by Thrift Pharmaceuticals, containing the dopamine antagonist domperidone, the histamine H2-receptor antagonist ranitidine, and the anti-foaming agent simethicone. It was primarily indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease, acidity, heartburn, bloating, and nausea/vomiting. Domperidone acts as a prokinetic agent to increase gastric motility, ranitidine reduces stomach acid production, and simethicone facilitates the passage of gas by disintegrating gas bubbles. The combination was marketed in India but was subsequently banned by Indian regulatory authorities as part of a wider restriction on certain fixed-dose combinations.
