Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ADLARITY (donepezil transdermal system), formerly known as Corplex Donepezil, is a once-weekly transdermal patch indicated for the treatment of mild, moderate, and severe dementia of the Alzheimer's type. Developed by Corium using its proprietary Corplex transdermal technology, the patch provides continuous and consistent delivery of donepezil, a centrally acting reversible acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, through the skin. By inhibiting the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, it increases the concentration of acetylcholine in the brain, which is thought to improve cognitive function. The transdermal delivery system was designed to provide a more convenient dosing schedule compared to daily oral administration and potentially reduce gastrointestinal side effects associated with oral donepezil by bypassing the digestive tract. It was approved by the U.S. FDA in March 2022.
