Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DA-5207 is a transdermal delivery system (patch) version of donepezil hydrochloride being developed by Dong-A ST for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. It is designed to be applied once a week, which could increase patient convenience compared to existing oral treatments. The patch formulation may also reduce side effects such as nausea and vomiting that are commonly reported with oral donepezil treatments. As an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, it works by preventing the breakdown of acetylcholine in the brain, which is a neurotransmitter important for memory and thinking.
