Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dongfang Weiyao is a traditional Chinese patent medicine formulated as a multi-herb capsule. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of chronic gastritis, gastric ulcers, and functional dyspepsia, particularly for patients presenting with epigastric pain, belching, acid regurgitation, poor appetite, and irritability due to liver-stomach disharmony with heat stasis blocking the collaterals. The formulation contains a mixture of fourteen traditional Chinese medicinal herbs, including Radix Bupleuri (Chaihu), Rhizoma Coptidis (Huanglian), Rhizoma Cyperi (Xiangfu), Radix Paeoniae Alba (Baishao), Angelica decursiva (Faluohai), Fructus Aurantii Immaturus (Zhishi), Radix et Rhizoma Rhei (Dahuang), Rhizoma Corydalis (Yanhuso), Ligusticum chuanxiong (Chuanxiong), Rehmannia glutinosa (Dihuang), Cortex Moutan (Mudanpi), Fructus Evodiae (Wuzhuyu), Bulbus Allii Macrostemonis (Xiebai), and Radix Aucklandiae (Muxiang). Dongfang Weiyao acts by soothing the liver, harmonizing the stomach, regulating qi, promoting blood circulation, clearing heat, and relieving pain.
