Overview

Donor CD7 CAR-T cells are an allogeneic chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed to target the CD7 protein, a cell surface marker highly expressed in T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) and T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (T-LBL). Developed by Beijing Boren Hospital, these CAR-T cells are derived from healthy donors rather than the patients themselves. This donor-derived approach is particularly useful for patients with T-cell malignancies where autologous T-cells may be contaminated with malignant cells or are of poor quality due to extensive prior chemotherapy. The therapy involves engineering donor T-cells to express a CAR that recognizes CD7, though this requires strategies to prevent fratricide (CAR-T cells attacking each other) since CD7 is also expressed on healthy T-cells. It is currently being evaluated in Phase I clinical trials for refractory or relapsed CD7-positive T-cell malignancies in children and adolescents.
