This investigational cellular therapy, developed by the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, involves the sequential administration of donor-derived dendritic cells and donor lymphocyte infusion (DLI). It is designed for patients with hematologic malignancies that have relapsed after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The donor dendritic cells, generated from the original stem cell donor, function as professional antigen-presenting cells to prime and activate donor T-cells. This process is intended to augment the graft-versus-leukemia (GVL) effect, enhancing the immune system's ability to identify and eradicate malignant cells. Phase 1 clinical results have demonstrated safety and potential for long-term durable remissions in a subset of patients.
