This is a donor-derived chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy targeting the CD7 antigen, which is highly expressed on malignant T-cells. Developed by Beijing Boren Hospital in collaboration with Shanghai YaKe Biotechnology and the Institute of Hematology & Blood Diseases Hospital, the therapy is specifically designed for patients with relapsed or refractory T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) and T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (T-LBL). The treatment utilizes T-cells from either a previous hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) donor or a new HLA-matched donor. By genetically modifying these donor T-cells to express a CAR targeting CD7, the therapy enables the immune system to identify and eliminate leukemic cells. This approach addresses the challenge of fratricide (CAR-T cells killing each other) and the difficulty of collecting healthy T-cells from heavily pre-treated patients by using allogeneic donor sources.
