DONQ52

DONQ52 is a novel multispecific (bispecific) antibody developed by Chugai Pharmaceutical for the treatment of celiac disease. It specifically targets and binds to the complex formed between HLA-DQ2.5 and gluten peptides, which is central to triggering the immune response in celiac disease patients. By binding this complex, DONQ52 blocks gluten-dependent T-cell activation without affecting systemic immunity or T-cell responses to non-gluten antigens. This selective mechanism offers a promising therapeutic approach for managing celiac disease beyond dietary restrictions. The drug is administered via subcutaneous injection and has demonstrated favorable pharmacokinetics and safety in preclinical studies as well as significant reduction of gluten-specific T cell responses in early clinical trials[1][2][3][4][5][6].
