Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DONU is a derivative of water-soluble nitrosourea, a class of cytotoxic chemotherapeutic agents. Nitrosoureas exert their anticancer activity primarily by alkylating and carbamoylating DNA, which interferes with DNA replication and repair, ultimately leading to cell death. This class of drugs is known for its lipophilicity, enabling it to cross the blood-brain barrier, making them useful in treating brain tumors. DONU has shown effects on human tumors serially transplanted into nude mice.
