Overview

DOPC liposomes are lipid-based vesicles composed of the neutral phospholipid 1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DOPC). These nanoparticles are characterized by a near-neutral surface charge and a composite nature, making them a versatile platform for drug delivery, diagnostics, and theranostics. In the context of cancer immunotherapy, DOPC liposomes are studied for their ability to target critical immune cells within the tumor microenvironment, such as dendritic cells and macrophages. Their physicochemical properties, including size and surface charge, are key determinants of their cellular uptake patterns and subsequent immune response triggering. Research has demonstrated that these neutral particles exhibit preferential internalization patterns in specific immune cell lines across different physiological contexts, such as the spleen versus the tumor microenvironment.
