Overview

Dornase alfa, developed by Nanjing Cellnuo Biotechnology, is a recombinant version of the human enzyme deoxyribonuclease I (rhDNase). This protein therapeutic is specifically engineered to cleave extracellular DNA, which accumulates in high concentrations in the thick, viscous mucus of patients with chronic respiratory conditions such as cystic fibrosis. By enzymatically digesting the long DNA filaments released by degenerating neutrophils, dornase alfa reduces the viscoelasticity of purulent lung secretions. This process facilitates easier airway clearance, reduces the frequency of respiratory infections, and improves overall pulmonary function. Nanjing Cellnuo Biotechnology produces this recombinant protein as part of its specialized enzyme pipeline, targeting applications in respiratory therapy.
