Zemcelpro (dorocubicel) is an ex vivo expanded hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) therapy developed by Iricor Therapeutics. The product is derived from umbilical cord blood (UCB) and expanded using UM-171, a small molecule pyrimidoindole derivative. UM-171 functions as a molecular glue that induces the degradation of RCOR1 and RCOR2, components of the CoREST complex, which leads to the robust expansion of primitive CD34+ CD90+ hematopoietic stem cells while maintaining their multi-lineage potential and stemness. This technology is designed to overcome the low cell dose limitations of conventional cord blood units, thereby accelerating neutrophil and platelet engraftment and improving clinical outcomes for patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) for hematologic malignancies or other blood disorders.
