Overview

**Dose Level 1-Baylor College of Medicine-chronic lymphocytic leukemia** was the lowest-dose cohort of the CLIPA Phase I investigational autologous cellular cancer-vaccine program for chronic lymphocytic leukemia. The treatment used a subcutaneous mixture of a fixed dose of **2 × 10^7 IL-2-secreting autologous B-CLL cells** with **2 × 10^5 CD40L-expressing autologous B-CLL cells** per injection. The patient-derived leukemia cells were genetically modified ex vivo to provide local interleukin-2 signaling and CD40 ligand-mediated activation of CD40 on leukemia cells, increasing expression of co-stimulatory molecules including CD80 and CD86 and promoting anti-leukemia cytotoxic T-cell responses.
