Double matched sibling hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is an experimental cell therapy protocol developed by the Rabin Medical Center for the treatment of high-risk hematological malignancies. The procedure involves the simultaneous infusion of equal numbers of CD34+ hematopoietic stem cells harvested from two different HLA-matched sibling donors into a single recipient. This approach aims to mimic the enhanced graft-versus-leukemia (GVL) effect observed in double umbilical cord blood transplants, potentially reducing relapse rates in patients with poor-prognosis acute leukemia, multiple myeloma, or advanced lymphoma. The treatment can be administered following either myeloablative or non-myeloablative conditioning regimens and is intended to improve engraftment kinetics and long-term disease-free survival.
