Overview

Dovitinib + paclitaxel is an investigational combination therapy consisting of dovitinib, a small molecule inhibitor of multiple receptor tyrosine kinases including fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFR), vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR), and platelet-derived growth factor receptors (PDGFR), and paclitaxel, a microtubule-stabilizing chemotherapeutic agent. Dovitinib acts by inhibiting signaling pathways involved in tumor cell proliferation and angiogenesis, while paclitaxel disrupts mitosis by stabilizing microtubules. Preclinical studies have shown that this combination has additive antitumor effects, particularly in gastric adenocarcinoma models, leading to greater tumor regression and improved survival compared to either agent alone[1][2]. The combination is being explored for its potential to enhance the efficacy of standard chemotherapy regimens.
