Overview

Doxazosin + tolterodine is a combination of two small molecule drugs used primarily for the treatment of men with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and overactive bladder (OAB). Doxazosin is an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist that relaxes smooth muscle in the prostate and bladder neck, improving urine flow and reducing symptoms of BPH. Tolterodine is a muscarinic receptor antagonist that reduces involuntary contractions of the detrusor muscle in the bladder, thereby decreasing urgency, frequency, and urge incontinence. The combination targets both obstructive and irritative urinary symptoms, providing greater symptom relief than either agent alone for patients with both BPH and OAB[1][2][3].
