Overview

Doxefazepam is a small molecule benzodiazepine derivative that possesses anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, sedative, and skeletal muscle relaxant properties. It was primarily used therapeutically as a hypnotic for the short-term management of insomnia. Developed by Schiapparelli in the 1970s, it was patented in 1972 and entered medical use in 1984. Doxefazepam was approved for use in Italy from the mid-1980s until 1995, when it was discontinued and no longer available for purchase.
