doxofylline + salbutamol

Salmonimar (a brand name variant or misspelling of Salonimar) is an oral fixed-dose combination therapy developed by Emcee Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of obstructive airway diseases. It combines doxofylline, a methylxanthine bronchodilator, with salbutamol (albuterol), a short-acting beta-2 adrenergic agonist (SABA). Doxofylline functions by inhibiting phosphodiesterase (PDE) enzymes, leading to increased levels of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) and subsequent smooth muscle relaxation; notably, it lacks the adenosine receptor antagonism characteristic of theophylline, which reduces the incidence of side effects like tachycardia and gastric secretion. Salbutamol complements this by directly stimulating beta-2 adrenoceptors, providing rapid relief from bronchoconstriction. The product is marketed in India for the management of bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
