Overview

This combination is a chemotherapy regimen used primarily for treating early-stage breast cancer. Doxorubicin, an anthracycline antibiotic, damages DNA in cancer cells, preventing them from replicating. Cyclophosphamide, an alkylating agent, also damages DNA, particularly in the resting phase of the cell cycle, preventing cell division. Both drugs work synergistically to kill cancer cells.
