Overview

Doxorubicin + docetaxel is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of two cytotoxic agents, doxorubicin (an anthracycline antibiotic) and docetaxel (a taxane). Doxorubicin works primarily by intercalating DNA and inhibiting topoisomerase II, leading to DNA damage and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. Docetaxel stabilizes microtubules, preventing their depolymerization during cell division, which results in mitotic arrest and cell death. This combination has demonstrated significant activity in the treatment of metastatic breast cancer and is used as part of various regimens for breast cancer therapy[2][5]. The combination exploits different mechanisms to maximize antitumor efficacy.
