Overview

This is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of four drugs: - **Doxorubicin** (an anthracycline antibiotic that inhibits topoisomerase II, leading to DNA damage and apoptosis in cancer cells) - **Fluoxymesterone** (a synthetic androgen/hormonal agent that exerts antitumor effects by antagonizing estrogen activity) - **Thiotepa** (an alkylating agent that crosslinks DNA strands, inhibiting DNA synthesis and function) - **Vinblastine** (a vinca alkaloid that disrupts microtubule formation during mitosis) This regimen has been used primarily for the treatment of advanced or metastatic breast cancer, particularly in patients who are refractory to prior chemotherapy. Clinical studies have shown response rates ranging from 40% to over 50% in heavily pretreated populations. The combination is considered effective and tolerable as a second-line or salvage therapy for metastatic breast cancer[1][2][6][8].
