Overview

This is a combination of chemotherapy agents used primarily in the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and lymphoma. The combination includes: - Doxorubicin: An anthracycline antibiotic that intercalates with DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II, preventing DNA replication and transcription. - L-asparaginase: An enzyme that depletes asparagine, an amino acid essential for leukemic cell survival. - PEG-L-asparaginase (pegaspargase): A modified form of L-asparaginase with polyethylene glycol, which extends its half-life and reduces immunogenicity. - Erwinia asparaginase: An alternative form of asparaginase derived from Erwinia chrysanthemi, used in patients who develop hypersensitivity to E. coli-derived asparaginase. This combination has shown synergistic effects in cancer treatment, with studies indicating improved progression-free survival compared to traditional protocols.
